"I Have Seen It" vs "I Saw It"—A Small Difference That Matters

こんにちは～！マルハバ！サウジの日本語の先生、佳子です＾＾
みなさんー！お元気ですかー？私は今日も朝ランニングに行ったので絶好調です！
今日は「サウジの砂嵐」について話したいと思います。
サウジの春から夏、つまり3月から恐らく9月くらいまで度々砂嵐が発生します。私が住む地域では特に3-5月が多い気がします。
みなさんご存じかと思いますが、サウジアラビアやその周辺の国々は砂漠の国です。なので、風が強いとよく砂埃が舞い、空が薄茶色になります。もちろん、ひどい場合は数メートル先から見えないので、運転は危険です。たいていの場合は日本でいう、黄砂みたいな感じです。でもひどい場合は、建物が壊れたり、けが人が出ます。
先週月曜日の深夜、息子の学校からメッセージがあり、「明日は砂嵐が来るため、生徒の健康を考え、当校ではオンラインレッスンをします。」という内容の連絡が来ました。私が住んでいる州のほとんどの学校では休校かオンラインクラスになったと思われます。朝、窓を開けると、運転できないほどではないですが、確かに健康には悪そうな感じでした。
オンラインクラスが終わるころには結構天気が良くなって大したことはなかったのですが、夜ごはんをたべるときにキッチンの換気扇の下が白くなっていて驚きました。換気扇を通して埃が入ってきます。なので、砂嵐の時には換気扇をつけておかなければならないと義理のお父さんが教えてくれました。今まで見たことなかったけど、新しいメイドさんがそのことを知らなかったので、朝からばんばん砂埃がキッチンに入り込んでいました。
砂嵐の時ではなくても、サウジの家にはよーく砂埃が入ってくるので、掃除が大変です。メイドさんを雇いたくなる気持ちがわかります。リビングなどの共有スペースは毎日2回のモップ掛け、キッチンや寝室は週に1回の徹底清掃です。埃がたまりやすいのでこまめに掃除をしないといけないです。
ちなみにサウジは地震や台風がなく大雨も珍しく全体的に災害が少ない国なので、日本に比べるとかなり安全ですよ～。

さて、今日のフレーズは「こまめ」です。労を惜しまず一生懸命に働く様子を意味します。今回の話のように掃除を定期的によくする場合と
「新入社員の彼女はこまめに業務に取り組んでいる。」や「妻はこまめに家事をこなしている。」など個人の働きぶりを評価する際に使われることが多いです。
