Open almost any Indian office email and you will meet "kindly": "Kindly find attached", "Kindly do the needful", "Kindly revert at the earliest". To some international readers, "kindly" feels old-fashioned, overly formal, or even slightly impatient. In Indian English it is simply the standard polite marker for requests in writing, much as "please" is in speech, and corpus studies of Indian English find "kindly" used far more often than in British or American English. What you will learn: • "Kindly": the written "Please" • "Do the needful" • "Please do", "Request you to", "Would you" • "Revert", "At the earliest", "Pfa" and other email words • How strong is the request? • Answering these emails • Practice: decode the email • Listening strategies • Self-check questions to test your ear Level: B1–B2. Self-study: listen, then take the quizzes. Audio voiced with AI from an original script by Dr. Rashmi R Nair.
