Used To, Was Doing and Keeps Doing | Spoken Malayalam #143
Descripción
English stretches one present tense over two jobs: "I walk every morning" is a habit, "I am walking" is happening now. English speakers usually say ഞാൻ നടക്കുന്നു (njaan nadakkunnu) for both, and for "I used to walk" they reach for the simple past ഞാൻ നടന്നു (njaan nadannu), which only means "I walked" once. Malayalam keeps these ideas apart with clear endings.
In this episode:
• The habit ending: -aarundu
• "don't usually" and "used to"
• Right now: -ukayaanu and -unnundu
• Was doing when: -ukayaayirunnu
• Keeps doing
• Language bridge
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
