There has been a serious accident on the A31 outside Winchester. It occurred just after 7.00 a.m., when a sports car1 skidded on the wet road surface in the slow lane, and hit a cyclist2 with great force. 안녕하세요, 여러분! 오늘은 새롭게 떠오른 한국어 표현인 파묘에 대해 이야기해 보려고 해요. 
이 표현은 원래 “무덤을 파서 옮기거나 다시 묻는다”라는 뜻인데요, 
영어로는 'exhuma'라고 번역 되었어요.
올해 초 개봉한 한국 오컬트 영화 파묘가 천만 관객을 돌파하면서 큰 인기를 끌었죠. 그런데 영화의 영향으로 이 단어가 한국 인터넷에서 완전히 새로운 의미로 쓰이게 되었어요.

파묘의 원래 의미는 "무덤을 파서 이장하거나 고쳐 묻는 일"인데, 영화 속에서 파묘를 하면서 무서운 악령이 깨어나는 장면이 나옵니다. 그래서 이제는 숨겨져 있던 부정적인 진실이나 문제가 갑작스레 드러나는 상황을 가리키는 은어 같은 표현으로 파묘가 사용되고 있어요. 
예를 들어, 누군가의 발언으로 인해 어떤 사건이 폭로되거나, 감추어졌던 진실이 밝혀지는 상황에서 사람들이 "파묘됐다"라고 말하는 거죠.

최근 파묘된 사례로는 '퍼프대디 사건'이 있는데요. 미국의 유명 래퍼인 '퍼프대디'가 엄청난 범죄에 연루된 정황이 언론에 의해 밝혀졌습니다. 
이처럼 그동안 감춰져 있던 일들이 드러나면서 많은 사람들에게 큰 충격을 주었죠. 이런 일이 벌어지면, 한국 사람들은 요즘 “와, 완전 파묘됐네!” 라고 반응해요.

이제 파묘는 사건의 은폐된 진실이 드러날 때를 가리키는 한국식 밈meme 같은 표현이 되었어요. 회사 스캔들이나 공인의 과거 문제 같은 걸 파헤칠 때 이 단어를 많이 씁니다.

어떻게 보면 이 표현을 통해 한국 문화에서 무언가 드러날 때의 느낌, 그 충격과 반응을 생생하게 볼 수 있어요. 다음에 한국 친구들이 “파묘”라는 표현을 사용한다면 “아, 숨겨져 있던 부정적인 일이 드러나는구나!”하고 기억해 주세요.

先週の週末に運転免許証の更新に行ってきたんだ。青からゴールドになったの！うれしい～！てか、みんなは日本の免許証には3種類の色があるの知ってる？運転者がどんな人かわかるように色分けされてるんだよー！

I went to renew my drivers license last weekend. It went from blue to gold! I'm so happy! Did you know that Japanese driver's licenses come in three different colors? They are color-coded to show what kind of person the driver is!


免許証には緑、青、ゴールドの3種類があって、その人の運転経歴と違反歴で色が分かれるんだよ。新しく免許をとった人は緑で、スピード違反とか事故とか何か違反があった人は青になって、5年間無事故・無違反だった人はゴールドになるよ。

There are green, blue, and gold, and the color is determined by a person's driving record and violation history. Newly licensed drivers are green, those with speeding tickets, accidents, or other violations are blue, and those with no accidents or violations in the past five years are gold.


ゴールド免許をとるとき、どんな手続きだったかというと、まず手続きのお金を払うんだよね。ゴールド免許は3000円だったよ。そして、視力検査、写真、講座っていう順番だったよ。講座はどんなルールが新しくできたとか、この内容が変わったとかいう話を聞いて、あとはビデオを見て終わりだった！全部で1時間くらいだったと思う。で、帰るときに新しい免許証をもらうっていう流れだったよ。ほしい人は古い免許証ももらえて、私はもらって帰ったよー。5年前の自分若かった～！

When I got the gold license, I had to pay for the procedure first. The fee for the gold license was 3,000 yen. Then there was an eye test, a photo, and a class. The lecture was about what new rules had been established, what had changed, and then we watched a video and that was it! I think it took about an hour in total. Then, when we left, we were given a new driver's license. I got my old license if I wanted it, and I left with it!


みんなは「ペーパードライバー」っていう言葉知ってる？「ペーパードライバー」はふだん運転は全然しないっていう人だよ。日本は身分証明書として運転免許証がよく使われるんだよね。だから、別に免許証は必要ないんだけど、身分証明書として使ってるっていう人も多いよ。

You’ve likely experienced those moments where, despite your best efforts, your mind drifts towards an upcoming event, a lingering problem, or unresolved personal matters. In these moments, the traditional approach might be to forcefully redirect your attention back to your studies, but today, I’m going to propose a different, more Zen-like strategy.
