Medical Terminology - The Circulatory System

前回のエピソードで「休み」の重要な使い方を説明するのを忘れていました。前回のエピソードをまだ聞いていない人は後で聞いてみてください。

「今日私は休みです。」皆さんはこの文の意味がわかりますか？これは「今日私は仕事がありません。」という意味です。
アルバイトをしている人は「バイトがない」「シフトがない」という意味です。
何かの理由があって仕事に行かなかった場合には「今日学校を休んでいます」「昨日仕事を休みました」と言います。
仕事の予定がなかった場合は「今日は休みです」「昨日は休みでした」と言います。
また連休という言葉を聞いたことがありますか？連休とは連続した休みのことです。例えば、土日がいつも休みの人の場合、月曜日が祝日で休みの時は土曜日と日曜日と月曜日が休みなので三連休になります。

El Año Nuevo es una ocasión especial en todo el mundo, y México no es la excepción. Este país vibrante y lleno de cultura tiene sus propias tradiciones únicas para recibir el año nuevo, mezclando la alegría festiva con el folclore que caracteriza a sus celebraciones. Aquí exploraremos algunas de las tradiciones más famosas que los mexicanos adoptan para dar la bienvenida al nuevo año.
Una de las costumbres más arraigadas en México es el consumo de las "uvas de la suerte". Pocos minutos antes de la medianoche, las familias se reúnen alrededor de la mesa con 12 uvas en la mano. Cada uva representa un deseo para cada mes del próximo año. El desafío radica en comer cada uva en el ritmo adecuado, coincidiendo con las campanadas que anuncian la llegada del nuevo año. Este ritual no solo es divertido, sino que también simboliza la esperanza y la buena fortuna para el año por venir.
Otra tradición curiosa y popular es dar un paseo con una maleta en la mano alrededor de la cuadra o la manzana. Este acto simboliza el deseo de viajar y explorar durante el próximo año. Algunos incluso dan un pequeño paseo con la maleta en la mano dentro de la casa. Es una manera única y divertida de atraer la prosperidad y las nuevas experiencias, marcando el Año Nuevo como una oportunidad para la aventura y la expansión personal.
La elección del color de la ropa interior para la noche de Año Nuevo es una tradición que ha ganado popularidad en México. Cada color simboliza un deseo diferente. Por ejemplo, el rojo se asocia con el amor y la pasión, el amarillo con la prosperidad y el éxito, y el blanco con la paz y la armonía. Muchas personas se toman en serio esta tradición y cuidadosamente eligen su ropa interior para asegurarse de atraer lo que desean para el próximo año.
La pirotecnia es una parte integral de las celebraciones de Año Nuevo en México. La gente se reúne en plazas y calles para disfrutar de impresionantes espectáculos de fuegos artificiales que iluminan el cielo nocturno...

Have you ever hurt your neck while watching TV and wondered if it's been mounted too high? Well, you're not the only one. In fact, there are hundreds of thousands of people who discuss the subject on Reddit every day.

From breaking news to fandoms, and from memes to life's biggest questions, Reddit is a website that encourages people to discuss any subject that interests them.

The platform has over 100,000 communities, or "subreddits," that are created by users. And a subreddit about TV placement is in the top 1% of popular communities.

The community known as "TV Too High" is among the website's largest, with over 200,000 members. Here, photos of TVs in homes, hotels and other spaces are posted and often met with hundreds of comments discussing whether or not the TV has been placed at a good height.

One photo posted to the community in September 2024 showed a TV mounted above a door, with one user commenting, "Spiders on the ceiling fan have a great view."

Another photo showing a TV mounted above a staircase received over 500 comments, with one user saying, "This might be the worst one I've ever seen."

But is there a perfect height for a TV?

One user posted a guide based on advice from the subreddit. It included things like: "If when standing the TV is at eye level, IT IS TOO HIGH," and, "If the TV is angled down, IT IS TOO HIGH."

Another user posted a photo of a guide from a TV manufacturer. It said the best height for a TV when viewing while sitting down is 107 centimeters from the center of the TV screen to the floor — although some users said this was still too high!
