Every drill in this course so far has run one direction: I give you English, you produce Malayalam. That trains production. It does not train comprehension — and comprehension is the thing that will actually fail you first. In a real conversation nobody hands you an English prompt. Somebody speaks Malayalam at you, at speed, and you have about one second. So this episode runs the other way. I say Malayalam. You say what it means, out loud, in English, during the countdown. Then I confirm. THREE RULES 1. Answer during the countdown. Out loud. Not in your head. 2. If you do not know, say something anyway. A wrong guess is worth more than silence, because a guess is a retrieval attempt and silence is not. 3. Do not stop and look anything up. Let the ones you miss go past. We start easy and get harder. When it stops being easy, that is your level — and that is useful information. SET ONE — the essentials SET TWO — questions people will ask you SET THREE — things said to you in a house Quizzes below.
