Hi everyone, and welcome back to Everyday English. Today’s episode is about personality. Are you more of an extrovert or an introvert? Or maybe you’re somewhere in between? Let’s find out!
Extroverts love socializing, meeting new people, and feel energized in busy environments. They enjoy group activities, thrive in social situations, and often express their thoughts openly. If you love parties, speaking in front of a crowd, and you make new friends easily, you might be an extrovert!
Introverts, on the other hand, prefer quiet time, deep conversations, and need space to recharge after socializing. They often enjoy reading, writing, or creative hobbies alone. If you feel drained after large social events and enjoy spending time in peaceful settings, you might be an introvert.
But here’s a fun fact—many people aren’t fully one or the other! Ambiverts have a mix of both traits. They can enjoy social events but also need alone time to recharge. If you like going out sometimes but also love staying home, you might be an ambivert! 
I think I’m more of an introvert—I love spending time in my garden and with my cats. What about you? Do you relate more to introverts or extroverts? Or are you somewhere in between?

C’erano una volta una volpe e una cicogna che si consideravano buone amiche.
Un giorno la volpe invitò a pranzo la cicogna; per farle uno scherzo, preparò della minestra e la servì in due vassoi piatti: la volpe riusciva a leccare con facilità la minestra nel suo vassoio, mentre la cicogna riusciva a malapena a bagnare la punta del becco nella minestra.
“Non ti piace la minestra?” chiese la volpe alla sua amica. “È buonissima, non preoccuparti; anzi, è così buona che son già sazia”.

Qualche giorno dopo, la cicogna ricambiò l’invito: voleva restituire lo scherzo alla volpe. Arrivato il giorno del pranzo, imbandì la tavola ma mise tutti i cibi in vasi dal collo lungo, come quelli che si usano per i fiori. La cicogna infilava il suo lungo becco nei vasi, gustandosi i manicaretti prelibati che aveva preparato. La volpe, invece, per quanto provasse ad infilare il muso e ad allungare la lingua, rimase a bocca asciutta.
“Non ti piace il pranzo che ti ho preparato?” chiese la cicogna. “Figurati, è delizioso. Così buono che sono già sazia” rispose la volpe. E così la cicogna si vendicò dell’amica burlona.

上士不争，下士好争。意思是有上等智慧的人，是没有争夺的心的，只有最下等最没有智慧的人，才一天到晚与人争夺。

我第一次看到这句话的时候，非常震撼。因为我们现代人，大部分都已经习惯了在各种场合与人争一个高低。不管是争夺有限的物质，还是在意见和他人不一样的时候争强好胜，都是古代圣贤最不会做的事情。老子不愧是圣人，只有不与人争，才能保持清静的心，保持一种自在和自由。这其实是传统中国文化的核心部分。

Today's phrase comes from Lao Tzu, from the wisdom of Taoism. 

The highly respected men don’t argue and contest, the lowly respected men like to argue and contest. It means that people with superior wisdom do not compete or fight, and only least intelligent people compete with others all the time.

The first time I saw this sentence, it was a shock. Because most of us modern people have been used to competing with people on various occasions. Whether it is competing for limited material resources, or competing to win when opinions differ, these are the last things that ancient sages do. Only by not fighting with others can we maintain a quiet mind and keep our hearts truly free and at ease. This is actually a core part of traditional Chinese wisdom.

・ドローンと花火と音楽のショーに行ってきた
・北海道でははじめて
・2.3日前から、雪も降ってきてとても寒かった
・あたたかい服を着たけど、足のつま先が冷たかった
・本当にすごかった！
・たくさんのドローンが一緒に動いて、いろいろな光がきれいだった
・感動で涙が少し出た

ドローン/どろーん…空を飛ぶ小さなもの。飛行機とは形が違う。
花火/はなび…火をつけて、空に上げて、光や色を楽しむもの。
ショー/しょー…たくさんの人を楽しませるためのもの
つま先/つまさき…足の一番前の指
感動/かんどう…心が動くこと
涙/なみだ…目から出る水
