Keep Going on Your Own: Shadowing, Recording and a Daily Plan | Real British English #117
Descripción
Many learners listen to an episode once, nod, and move on. A week later, almost nothing is left. Others study hard but in a random way: an hour one day, nothing for ten days.
In this episode:
• Four-step shadowing
• Recording yourself
• Steal three phrases per episode
• Your personal mistake list and spaced review
• A 10-minute daily plan and a weekly plan
• Practice
• Self-check questions with answers
Key phrases from this episode:
Step 1, listen — play a short section, about thirty seconds, and just listen.
Step 2, read along — listen again while reading the script silently.
Step 4, shadow without the script — speak along using only your ears.
Word stress — did you say pho-TOG-ruh-fee, with the stress in the right place?
The BATH vowel — did you say bath as BAHTH, with a long, open A?
From Episode 115: I'm not fussed. — Chips or rice? I'm not fussed.
Day 1 — do the quiz right after the episode.
Day 3 — do the same quiz again.
Day 7 — do it once more.
Day 30 — one last time.
Two minutes — shadow one short section.
Two minutes — one-sentence dictation.
Three minutes — record three lines and check one feature.
Three minutes — say your three stolen phrases and read your mistake list.
Monday — a new episode, first listen.
Tuesday to Thursday — daily plan with that episode.
Friday — the quiz and your recording.
Saturday — speak with a partner or in a lesson, using your stolen phrases.
Sunday — rest, or listen just for fun.
