In Australia we say “Mate” and in Colombia we can call a friend “Parce”.

In México its normal to say "friend"  but you can say coloquially "compa" "cuate" :)

Yeah, I know a lot of guys that will call each other "bud" or "man" or "bro" (as in "brother"). Even girls, if they are greeting a close male friend might say, "Hey man."
