If you type information into a computer or type it in, you press keys on the keyboard so that the computer stores or processes the information. "type in"
'Type' as a Noun means a category of people or things having common characteristics and/or a person or thing exemplifying the ideal or defining characteristics of something.
'Type' as a Verb means to write (something) on a typewriter or computer by pressing the keys and/or determine the type to which (a person or their blood or tissue) belongs.
I hope this is helpful :)

There’s also a very specific term called “type in traffic” which is related to the internet and means the traffic which comes from a user who types in the domain name of the website in a browser in order to reach it directly rather than looking for this website with a help of a search engine.
