Hi everybody!
Could someone please tell me the meaning of "single-run" in the following sentence: "A hotel is a single-run trading company"? I just don't get it. I would appreciate your help a lot. :)
It's not a phrase i am familiar with. I'm an ex Finance Director and i have never heard of it.
My GUESS is that it might be that one person is operating the company. the company has one owner / operator.
but it is odd.

Hi Flaviana! It simply means that the company is run or operated by one person.
"Single"= one person
"run"= managing or operating something
Hope this helps! 😊

Well, your guess was also my guess and it sounded odd to me, as well. However, since I'm not a native speaker, I thought it could be admissible somehow. Thank you for your answer! :)

I agree with Paul. It is not owned and managed by a consortium, but by one person.
