Haircut is one word. If you say you got 'a hair cut', that means you had ONE hair that got cut. Not a huge deal though - many native speakers would probably make the same mistake. PEOPLE is plural.

I got a new hair cut yesterday. I feel like a brand new-person but it seems most people around me doesn’t think so. TNobody even mentioned my hair. I don’t care though. I like my new hair style.
