Hello folks. How are you? I wonder if you could give me synonyms for 'to nip something in the bud'? In Spanish we say something like 'to cut something from the root'. I guess that 'Stop something before it gets worse' works but any phrasal verb? Just to help me fix it 🙂 Thanks a lot language mates. Have a good one 🙂

Here are a few more suggestions. Don't let something get out of control. Put a handle on something. Head something off at the pass. Tackle something at the door. Put out the embers. Slam the door on something. Perform a pre-emptive strike. Pull the plug on something.

Nip something in the bud - to stop something before it has an opportunity to become established. To abort - To cut off - To anticipate - to cut short - To stymie - To put the kibosh on “Inflation will only get worse if the government doesn't do something right now to nip it in the bud.” :)
