Haul from hauling?? If that's the case it could mean something like "That was a considerable distance"

Quite a haul means “wow you have a lot you are carrying”. The context doesn’t matter. It can refer to many things but it just means you are carry a lot. It’s usually physical and literal but can apply in other contexts as well.
