There's rules, there's people.. Are those correct? I've seen those phrases in different situations but I don't understand why it is "there is instead of there are. Thanks for your help š¤Ŗ

itās TOTALLY incorrect BUT, we americans say things incorrectly all the time. youāre right, it should be āthere areā but A LOT of people (especially in The South) say āthereāsā when referring to plural things.

In speaking and in some informal writing, English will use āthereāsā even when it refers to more than one; even though this would be incorrect in formal writing or in an examination. Basically, itās a colloquialism.
