Do you guys know about the Korean band M.C. the Max? In case you didn’t know about them, they’re one of the legendary Koran bands who have released so many hits since their debut in 2002. In particular, the vocalist Lee Soo is one of “Kim-Na-Park-Lee,” a term coined by Korean netizens that refers to the generally accepted four greatest Korean vocalists: Kim Bum-soo, Naul, Park Hyo-shin and Lee Soo. 혹시 M.C. the Max라는 밴드에 대해서 알고 있어? 2002년에 데뷔하고 정말 수많은 히트곡을 내놓은 한국의 대표 밴드지. 특히 보컬인 이수는 한국 네티즌 사이에서 흔히 알려진 4대 보컬 ‘김나박이 (김범수,나얼,박효신,이수)’ 중에 한 명일 정도로 가창력이 뛰어나다고 알려져있어.  And today, out of nowhere, the band’s 2004 hit ballad “Don’t Be Happy” came to my mind. (Maybe because I was being emotional or something.) Even when I listen to it now, though its style is pretty similar to many Japanese ballads in the early 2000s, I still find myself tied up to random sad thoughts as if I were a lead character in a sad movie lol. 😂 I especially love the lyrics of the chorus: “Don’t be happy because you have to forget me to be happy. Don’t be with someone else because he’s not me.” Honestly, he’s a bit lingering and being a dxxk here, but I guess we could all understand why he says such things to someone who’s leaving him. 😂😭 오늘은 갑자기 M.C. the Max의 2004년 히트곡인 ‘행복하지 말아요’라는 곡이 생각났어. 지금 들으면 흔한 옛날 일본 스타일 발라드곡 같으면서도 여전히 감성에 젖게 하는 명곡인 것 같아.  특히나 헤어지는 연인에게 행복하려면 자신을 잊어버려야 하므로 행복하지 말고 자기가 아니면 누구와도 영원한 사랑을 하지 말라는 가사가 지금 들어보면 이기적인 말이지만 이해도 가네. Anyway, this is it. This post was about my random thoughts about the classic Korean ballad track.
