It's used when you respond to someone critising you for something, when the other person has the very same fault too.
Use this expression wisely and with care.

Definitely one of my favorite expressions in English. I like this version better than its French equivalent which would be something along the lines of "it's the hospital who doesn't give a damn about charity" (c'est l'hôpital qui se moque de la charité)
