Hi, there.
There is a scenario, and I need to compare my result with native speakers'(to learn about the strategies used for the speech act of refusal). what will you native speakers say in such situation?
You're at a friend's house for lunch.
·Friend: How about another piece ofcake?
.You: __
·Friend: Come onjust alittle piece?
·You: __

PS. Friends don't usually ask twice. A 'no' is seen as a 'no', unlike other cultures.

1. Tempting, but I'm alright. Thanks.
2. Oh, no. Thank you, but I really shouldn't. (Or "really can't")

The first time you say ‘no, thank you’.
If the friend persists, as in your example, then you can say ‘I’d like to, but I’m full’

"Dear friend, please excuse me as I have to respectfully decline. My digestive system is overloaded as it is and I am currently trying to comply with a diet regime. Please refrain from offering me any more cake or I will have to resort to more stringent methods of refusal."
This would be what we call a "verbose" method of refusal :)

No thank you.
Thank you, but I really can't manage it.
We generally only refuse once in English.
