Word order inversion is often used to create emphasis, dramatic, or poetic effect. Bad grammar is sometimes used for the same purposes. That's called "poetic license". Example: "And QUIET FLOWS the Don" (should be "quietly") Example: "So WAS IT when my life began / So IS IT now I am a man" - W. Wordsworth Example: "The hand that paused to gather / Upon this Summer's day / Will IDLE LIE - in Auburn - Then take my flowers - pray!" - E. Dickinson

Glenn is right that it's a narrative style. The adverb and verb are placed at the beginning of the sentence to emphasize the action rather than the subject that performs it. The adverb is placed first so that the verb can be in the second position.

It depends on the situation. A butterfly will crawl out of its cocoon.
