This is a quote by L P Hartley from 'The Go-between' "The past is a foreign country. They do things differently there". It's the opening line.

Haha. I picked this book up yesterday and posted that line in a book group. Some people would do well to remember it.

I like the metaphor, but there are a couple of grammatical issues. You used the noun "foreigner" where you need an adjective, and you used the adjective "different" where you need an adverb. I would suggest: History is a foreign country. They do things differently there.
