Profesor profesionalDear teachers. I have a question for you. The following gapped text appeared in an important exam in my student's country. The text is about a type of fried bread. I have included 3 possible answers (A, B and C). Which of these answers would you say is/are grammatically correct and which, if any, is/are wrong? Your answers are very much appreciated (I'm happy to provide the context to all those who reply).
'One online comment says, “Your mom’s or your aunt’s frybread can never be made by anyone else in the world.” Whatever the variety, most versions have a few things in common. The basic ingredients are flour, baking powder or soda, and salt, which are mixed together into a dough ball using water, milk or buttermilk. After letting it rise, the ball ……...... (divide) into pieces, rolled into discs and then fried until bubbly, golden and crispy.'
A: would be divided
B: is divided
C: divides
