Hey there!
How can I describe the difference between bake and broil?

They are both using dry heat but normally broiling would be considered much higher temperature and a closet proximity to the heat source to crisp the outside of the food.
Baking does normally constitute when a substance changes structure- dough to bread for example but you could also bake chicken- it’s just a lower temperature process and does not normally result in a crispy food.
Most people in most situations would use the word bake over broil.

When you broil something, the heat source is usually above it.
For example,
If you wanted to melt a top layer of cheese on something, you could broil it.
The heat would come down from above the food.
When you bake something, the heat usually comes from the bottom, or sometimes top and bottom, depending on the oven.

I can’t bake you a cake now, the oven takes too long to heat up. But, i can broil you a chicken because we have a fire.
