My favorite hobby is singing. Singing calms the mind and relaxes the muscles, thanks to the practice of controlled breathing. When you sing, you tell a story, and this story can be a way for you to express feelings and thoughts that you would otherwise have kept inside. Singing is, therefore, cathartic. I'm particularly drawn to songs that convey messages of empowerment, the courage to speak up, and the pursuit of personal desires. I love songs that vibrate inside me and make a statement, such as 'My way', Shirley Bassey's style. Singing in front of other people is a great exercise that teaches you how not to be sorry to take some space, to be in the moment, and to speak your mind. Singing is saying: I am allowed to be alive; I am allowed to exist. Singing is learning not to be afraid of your own voice and learning not to judge it. It's not too high, too low, too loud, or too quiet; it's uniquely yours, and it's beautiful if you allow it to resonate inside your chest and beyond. The first time I managed to let it go without fear of being too loud or making false notes, it vibrated so much inside my chest that I felt liberated and free. A voice that is free is like honeyed milk running down your throat. It's warm and soothing.
