Confront and face are essentially equivalent. The problem is still “in front of you”, not yet addressed it’s still a problem. Overcome means that the outcome is successful, it’s an outcome, so you are “looking back” at the problem. It’s not a problem anymore. In your sentence, either word could be used, depending on your perspective. Do we need preparation to just take on the problem? Or are we fine without preparation to start, but we won’t succeed unless we had preparation.? The key is overcome = success.

Hi Emar, Face is the initial stage of meeting a problem. For example, today is a new day and I am facing a new problem. Confront is more to deal with a problem (but not necessarily succeed yet). For example, I faced a problem yesterday that I'm determined to confront today. Overcome is when you deal with the problem successfully. I faced a problem two days ago, and yesterday I was determined to confront it. Today, I will overcome it, I'm confident.
