In this program (show) the public (audience) would select a topic and four amazing actors would improvise funny scenes, They are (were) very creative and original performers (performances) I don't recommend this program for beginners (beginning learners), but you can watch the first chapter below. https://youtu.be/ZfUlczvCSHk

Looks good! The stuff in parenthesis are only suggestions, either would work 😊 for performers vs performances- performers would be referring to the actors themselves, performances would be referring to what they performed, if that makes sense.
