Hello Yagub, I agree with Johnathan that "grey" is not full dark nor as the text says: "not full up" so the sunlight has not yet conquered the dark of night. Enjoy your reading! e.

"Gray time" here refers to that period when the light is still low - not dark, but not bright either.
