Do English major students have any efficient way to remember words? How can I improve my speaking and reading skills?🥲

Hello !
We can practice English together if you desire.

Hi :) I find that the best way is to SEE, HEAR, SAY and PRACTICE. Feel free to book a $1 trial lesson with me to see how I do this in my lessons. See you soon :)

To memorize new words, I like to:
- Put sticky notes on my mirror and read them a few times every time I get ready.
- Make quizzes for myself… I write 20 sentences on side of the paper, with the vocabulary missing, and I make a list of the vocab words on the other side of the paper. Then, I match the vocab words to the appropriate sentence.
- I write a paragraph, using some of the new words I have learned.
- I come up with word associations. (I associate the word/words I am trying to remember with a word I already know.)
- I repeat it over and over again.
- I try to use new words in a speech or presentation, because I tend to practice A LOT. I never forget the vocab I use in presentations because I practice them so much.
- Some people have found success by making a rhyme or song out of the vocab, or coming up with a gesture to go with the word.
I hope these ideas help.

For memorising words: A very good app named: AnkiApp has flash cards.
For reading: I recommend you choose a novel that you’re interested in and slowly read it. A few pages a day.
- for myself studying Chinese, I like to listen to the audiobooks and read at the same time!
Hope this helps!

Flash cards. Say the words as you go through them as it engages your mind in another way, which helps you remember. Writing the words also helps. Also listen to the spoken language (like on YouTube) and see if you can recognize the new words, even if you don’t understand the rest of what is being said.
