I really miss the discussion section. Several years ago, I was much more active here and one of the things I did regularly was to initiate a discussion or participate in one started by another member. Now it seems that section is gone, which is sad. In my view, it was helpful in so many ways. It gave us the opportunity to get to know the way of thinking of one another, so it had the potential to strengthen our friendship and consequently the community as whole. I remember I had written down hundreds of sentences that other members utilized in those discussions, since they were either interesting and very well thought out or were the sentences that I liked to say in an eloquent manner but didn’t know how. Of course, from time to time there was a misunderstanding or conflict between members but it was OK. In fact, it was fantastic! As a language learner, we’re going to be in similar situations someday so it’s better to become prepared to settle those conflicts and to learn how to be more selective with our words so that they don’t end up in some misunderstanding in the first place. I guess that’s the end of my nagging. 😊
