Being from a place doesn't have to be what defines us. What does this mean? Let's dig a bit deeper to understand what "roots" really are and why and how they may establish a starting point in where we begin, it isn't the determining factor in how far and where in this world we can go. Language can be that pathway in taking us out from where our family roots first gave us a sense of home base, --a starting point, if you will. Confused? As a farmer, I long accepted I would never be a world traveler, but through communication of our languages, we bridge the great divides that separate us. We don't have to be reminded of our many diversified dialects, simply celebrate that we are all one people. Shouldn't this be our strength when we feel we fail at language. The smile still goes a long way! I am thankful of the failures because sharing really has brought me out of the garden where I was planted. I hope you all can feel joy in this rare truth.
