Do native speakers say " catch one's fancy" ? What does the phrase mean?
I read about this sentence somewhere but it sounds very strange to me.
The dinosaurs' picture caught the little boy's fancy.

To catch someone's fancy means to be appealing or pleasant to someone; to be intriguing or of interest to someone.

He was interested in the picture. That is what this phrase means.

Hey Jin! I’m from England and this is a common expression! We use variations of it in many different contexts. For example:
Friend 1: I’m hungry.
Friend 2: Didn’t you go to that restaurant?
Friend 1: Yeah, but nothing on the menu took my fancy.
Mum: Want to go to the cinema this weekend?
Daughter: Could do, but there are no films out right now that catch my fancy./There’s nothing out right now that catches my fancy.
We use idiomatic and verbal phrases often because it adds colour and depth to our conversations.
Outside of this phrase, we also use the word ‘fancy’ which has 3 different popular meanings:
1. To be attracted to someone or like them romantically. Eg: I think I fancy him.
2. To have a subtle desire for something. Eg: I fancy a piece of chocolate./I fancy going out tonight.
3. An attributive adjective for something wealthy, posh or classy. Eg: Her house is very fancy.
