My name is Naoko, which is written "直子" in Japanese. ”子" is usually used for a female name and it just means "a girl".
"直" has several meanings, but basically it means "straight". For example, "直" plus "線/line" means a "straight line". "直" plus "行/go" means "going directly". When people use "直" for your name, they want you to be an "honest" and "straightforward" person. But I think I have been cursed by my name!! I am a straightforward person, but in the wrong way. I am careless and hasty and make mistakes, which I would not do if I thought twice. My parents, my friends and even myself think that "直" makes me act like that!! If I had a different letter meaning "calm", "easy going" or "deep", would my life have been less troublesome?
