Could you tell me how to use the phrase "see to it that"? I read some sentences that have it. It seems this phrase equals "make sure". So, it this sentence correct: You see to it that you lock the door when you leave home.
Some people might find "See to it" a bit strong (rude).
Maybe it would be safer to say something like "Would you please make sure the door is locked before leaving (the house)?"

It's best you take out 'You' from the sentence and start with the phrase itself, for example
"See to it that you lock the door before leaving the house."
