Viscera is where the word comes from which I understand is a word for guts/intestines in a casual usage. Visceral can mean that its relating to that. Do you have context?
Your definition is right, but Bobby is right too -- sometimes it can refer to bloody or gory. Visceral most often refers to an emotion so strong it is said it 'tears your guts out", an emotion you feel physically.
