I let you know when I read these books!

Hello Maria,

I love reading and I love fantasy novels as well as dystopian novels.  Since I don't know what you like in reader,  I hope my suggestions will be ok.  You mention C1, so it seems to me you want a book that will be entertaining yet still push you to learn more vocabulary. Is that correct?

1-- A Boy and His Dog, by Harlan Ellison.  This is a short dystopian novel. Enjoyable and surprising. You may find that Ellison creates some new words and slang, which will help you develop the skill of understanding words in context.

2--Way Station, by Clifford Simak.  I loved this book so much I'm afraid to read anything else by the author, lest it not be as good. This is a character driven text, which means the focus is on the main character his development. Good use of language.

3--Hounded, by Kevin Hearne.  This is an interesting premise, a fantasy of gods and goddesses in the modern world. I found it fun, and enjoyable.

4--Binti, and Binti: Home, and Binti: The Night Masquerade, by Ninedi Okorafor.  These are three novellas that are interesting and fun. Great stories.

5--any short story by Edgar Allen Poe.  Never be afraid to read one of his stories. His use of language is poetry. You'll learn lots of words in his work.
