CE and BCE are used for time. CE means anytime after year 0 (aka Christ) and BCE means anytime before 0. So today we live in 2019 CE.
73 BCE means 2092 years ago.
CE = common era
BCE = before common era

We use the Gregorian calendar. Before the Gregorian calendar was the Julian calendar. There is a year zero in neither the Gregorian calendar nor the Julian calendar. In which case, the year 73 BCE would be 2091 years ago, right?

I believe it means Before Common Era? If so, it used to mean before the time of Christ. I guess it's just a more politically correct designation of this. Not totally sure, though.
