Somayah, unfortunately most of what I know about Sudan is about conflicts in your country.
I know some things about its ancient history. Kingdom of Kush coexisted with Egyptian kingdoms for the whole history of ancient Egypt. Once their pharaohs even ruled Egypt. It was parly in modern day Egypt and partly in modern day Sudan, but the Egyptian part is now submerged by lake Nasser:(
Then there was Meroë and its queens, and then there were Nubian kingdoms.
There also was a famous series of photogrphas by Leni Riefenstahl of people of Nuba mountians in Kordofan.
I saw them and they are quite impressive. So I got curious about people who live there... But this region is exactly where there is a conflict. This is why I know some things about conflicts in your country.
But I know almost nothign about the majority culture of Sudan. I know less about Sudanese Arabs than about Nubians.
My mother's clasmate's boyfreind was a Sudanese guy. He studied here.
But they didn't marry, because he didn't want to live in Russia and she didn't want to live in Sudan. Their daugther lives in Estonia now and works as a Russian teacher.
