I'm going for the 'Gal-entine's Day' approach: I'm going on a fun all-girls weekend away with my daughter, sister and niece. We're all leaving our menfolk at home and having some 'gal' time. And yes, the guys are fine with that.
As for the grammar, I've never had too much of a problem with me and my husband. It's an example of simple, unpretentious vernacular: it's what people say, and it doesn't worry me too much. Like He's older than me, it doesn't stand up to scrutiny in terms of grammatical case use, but that doesn't mean we can't say it.
Personally, I would far rather hear the down-to-earth me and my husband than the cringeworthy hyper-correction of people who think they understand grammar but don't. Give me a Me and my husband will both be off work over the excruciating My parents invited my husband and I to dinner ( aarggh...) any day!
