"wedding" Arabic word of the day

Today I am going to a wedding and will be repeating this word in Arabic so it is ingrained to my brain :P

And So, for italki's dear Arabic learners too, here's how to say wedding (party, not the ceremony) in Arabic حفل زفاف (Hafal azifaf) I am not sure if the pronunciation is correct though ahaha..

Maybe fellow Arabic friends might also want to tell us about their wedding traditions? It would be nice to hear about the culture too.

Ma'assalama!

@Basma shukran for contributing! Your weddings sound way more fun than the wedding I had been to. This was my first time in a Korean wedding. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding and I fell in love with the place. It was beautiful spring weather, flowers, balloons and green all around.

But the actual wedding was really short like 2 hours :/ And no music no dancing!!! bahhhh...To me it seemed like the whole wedding was made just to take fancy pictures :P:P:P..not to celebrate and have fun! Bride sat in a hut and got her photos done for like an hour with the guest with a professional photographer of course! and then after the ceremony more pictures. Guests were put in order and directed for some nice photoshoot, like a background in the photo basically. Hmm I thought that was not fun.

I have to say the best part was the food :D:D:D it was deliciouuuussss..

*we call it (zowaj _ زواج ) or ( 'ers _ عِرس) or (فَرَح _ farah ) in Saudi .

*In our weddings men and women celebrate is tow different places , and sometimes the groom join the bride in her wedding procession at the end of the wedding .

*women's section's music are usually so loud and dance able :D , but men's music are different and various (for example here In the western of Saudi they have a traditional singers called JESSEES)

- this is Jessees (make sure to control your volume)  http://youtu.be/TEY1JW4TS8Q

*Usually the wedding starts at 9 pm and ends at 4 am
