Japanese Films

Hello everyone!

I've recently watched the Japanese movies "Sky of Love/Koizora" and "Heavenly Forest/Tada, Kimi wo Aishiteru" as part of my language learning. I had to watch them with subtitles though since my Japanese level is less than poor, but I still enjoyed them.

Has anyone seen them? If so, what do you think? And, any recommendations for similar Japanese movies?

I finished watching Solanin, it was pretty interesting and sad. Thanks for the recommendation. I like Miyazaki Aoi's acting, such a cute smile.

I'll check on "Boku no Ita Jikan" and "Whisper of the Heart" when I get the chance too, thanks!

I also watched Hanamizuki. I kind of liked that one the best so far, great acting from Agaraki Yui. Anyone seen it?

I've watched Kimi wo Aishiteru, although I didn't really like it...

Other movies that I recommend and that might fit into what you're looking for:

Kanojo wa Uso wo Aishiteru - Good drama and story

Solanin - Realistic story, this is a very well known movie

Norwegian Wood - Slow paced but beautiful story

@Kiki

I know what you mean! They really are sad-ish, Hanamizuki does have a happy ending though.

There is this drama series (comedy) that I started watching called "My Boss, My Hero" it's about a yakuza/mobster who is forced to go back to high school. I've only watched 1 episode so far but got me hooked already, it's HILARIOUS! I recommend it, check it out!

@Kiki

Movies that I recommend, without the sad or has minimal sadness (I've also noted the difficulty and this is based on how much they talk and what kinds of words they use):

Mahoro Ekimae Tada Benriken

Two guys doing odd jobs. Slice of life. Beginner level. If you like this movie, there is a drama series.

The Foreign Duck, the Native Duck and God in a Coin Locker

Really hard to describe this without ruining the story, just watch the trailer. Slice of life and mystery. Beginner-Intermediate level.

The Great Passage

Group of people writing a dictionary. Very slow paced. Slice of life. Intermediate-Advanced level.

Kisaragi

Five people meet up to reminisce about their favorite idol. Mystery and comedy. Intermediate level.

Genome Hazard

A man trying to find his wife. Mystery and action. Intermediate level.

Rent a Neko

Woman who rents cats to lonely people. Slice of life. Beginner level.

Hello, I checked trailers for those movies and they are so sad.

Is there any good movie with happy end, except of anime?
