Kind of Rice in Indonesia
Hello all, Quite long time didn't post any new entry here ^^. I will comeback to my college next week. For somedays ago, I was busy at office and also have another things to do so I can't compose any entry sooner.
For this time,I will talk about food again ^^. Hope you willn't feel bored with my topic. I choose to talk about food because if I were you and I have a chance to Indonesia, I will do culinary tour because there's a lot of food that you must try when visit Indonesia.
Rice is one of the main food (besides corn and sagoo) for Indonesia people. I live in the west part of Indonesia, so I usualy eat rice. There are some processed rice, like :
1. Nasi Uduk / Nasi Gemuk (Uduk Rice / Fat Rice)
Nasi uduk usually eat as a breakfast menu. I usually call nasi uduk as nasi gemuk. Nasi uduk is made from rice (beras) mixed with coconut milk and another spicies like ginger, and etc. You can eat nasi uduk with side dishes like fried chicken, cucumber, egg, tahu, tempe and etc.
2. Nasi Kuning (Yellow Rice)
Nasi kuning is almost same with nasi uduk.Turmeric add on the mixture as the yellow colour of rice. Nasi kuning is usually made as "tumpeng" in some celebration. You also can eat nasi kuning with side dishes.
There are another kind of rice like nasi liwet, nasi kapau, nasi bogana, nasi ulam, nasi langi, nasi krawu, and etc. So far I just ever eat both above because those are the common one.
Enn, for the end, let me tell you the different between "beras" and "nasi". In google, it have a same meaning (rice). Beras still raw, uncooked, so you can't eat it. Nasi is the cooked "beras". Could you all understand it?
Just leave a comment if you have any question or etc. Thanks ^^

Rise with potatoes ? it looks unusual for me. In Ukrainian cuisine we don't combine these foodstuffs together. I am curious about the taste :) Thanks for your writing, Meliana.
