Some people prefer to live in a small town. Others prefer to live in a big city.
I grew up in a small town near a big city, so I have experienced both the intense lifestyle of big cities and the peaceful one of small towns.
The large population of big cities attracts a lot of investments. Concerts, exhibitions and various other events continuously take place in big cities and that’s why people who like to keep in touch with the cultural or professional community prefer to live in big cities.
Furthermore, Living in small cities sometimes isn’t a choice. As most of the companies are located in cities, people who work for long hours might not afford the time for transportation to small towns outside the city. Hence, these people would most likely find a neighborhood not too far from their workplace.
On the other hand, some people can’t stand crowded places, such as big cites, and prefer to live in small towns. Personally, it’s very important for either my work, as a researcher, or my leisure time to have tranquil surroundings, that’s why living in a calm small town is very essential for me.
In short, whether people prefer to live in big cities or small towns depends on their interests and their jobs’ requirements. A fast pace life with long working hours would probably require living in a big city, while a peaceful slow pace one would require living in a small town.
