Essay practise for CAE exam
"Technological progress makes us live faster, but it also means we have less time for the important things in life such as relationships."
Some people may say that technological advantages have changed our lifes to a more frenetic state where the important things such as social interaction have no place in. Although this assertion may b true to some extent, there are arguments against them worth to present.
In contrast to our ancestors, we are able to save time that , otherwise, would be spent on household tasks, travelling to work or in the exhausting jobs themselves. Thanks to technological progress, our working lifes have been improved by modern devices, our transports are faster and more effective and even chores are lighter to do than they used to.
On the other hand, it is true that we have far more amussements than before, for example the Internet or the TV, which can separe us from others. But it is also undeniable thay today's comunication arrives further than it used to and that allows us to take contact with people we could not 50 years ago. This difference should not be considered an stepback in our relationships.
To sum up, I agree that how we see life has changed and speeded up, however this does not mean that we have less time to invest in things of great importance. On the contrary, we are now in better conditions to enjoy everything the world has to offer once that past barriers have been overcome.

Hello Paula,
Nice essay well laid out and good arguments. Several of the corrections were for spelling mistakes rather than anything else!
Hope this helps
