Could somebody correct this story? "I ate jam tomorrow" It today's post I'll describe the most horrible meal I've ever ordered in a restaurant. Some time ago, me and my friend decided to take a week off and visit my family in the UK. One day we just went out to eat something in town. We walked in a first restaurant we bumped into. We took seats, a waiter brought the menus etc. We weren't familiarised with the local cuisine so we put on a safety choice which was a pizza. We were hungry as a bear so we picked something quickly that had 'pizza' in the name. After about half an hour of waiting, to our surprise, the waitress brought us something that resembled rather an omelette than the pizza. We cut it in two, and... a jam flowed out. Oh, and it didn't taste good. Not only the dough was stale, but the jam itself was sour. It all tasted bland generally. Somehow, we made it finish that, and even praised the waiter ironically by saying that the pizzas were warm and mixing mushrooms with jam was really... interesting. Unsatisfied we settled for sandwiches at home...

"I ate jam tomorrow" "ate" is past tense and "tomorrow" is in the future. Do you mean "I ate jam yesterday"?

It In today's post I'll describe the most horrible meal I've ever ordered in a restaurant.

Some time ago, me and my friend (you will hear this phrasing, but it is not proper grammar. You should say "my friend and I) decided to take a week off and visit my family in the UK. One day we just (unnecessary word) went out to eat something in town. We walked into a the first restaurant we bumped into ("ran into" would be heard more commonly, bumped into tends to be used more for people/friends you randomly encounter). We took our seats, a waiter brought the menus, etc. We weren't familiarised  familiar with the local cuisine so we put on a safety choice settled on a safe choice, which was a pizza. We were hungry as a bear ("starving" or "famished" might be a nice choice here) so we picked something quickly that had 'pizza' in the name.

After about half an hour of waiting, to our surprise, the waitress brought us something that resembled rather an omelette rather than the a  pizza. We cut it in two, and... a jam flowed out. Oh, and it didn't taste good. Not only was the dough was stale, but the jam itself was sour. It all tasted bland generally. Somehow, we made it finish that  managed to finish it, and even praised ("complimented" is a better choice here) the waiter ironically by saying that the pizzas were warm and mixing mushrooms with jam was really... interesting.

"I ate jam tomorrow" (Do you mean "yesterday"?)

It today's post I'll describe the most horrible meal I've ever ordered in a restaurant.

Some time ago, me and my friend decided to take a week off and visit my family in the UK. One day we went out to eat something in town. We walked into the first restaurant we bumped into. We took our seats, and a waiter brought the menus etc. We weren't familiar with the local cuisine so we took the safe option which was pizza. We were hungry as bears so we chose something quickly that had 'pizza' in the name.

After about half an hour of waiting, to our surprise, the waitress brought us something that resembled an omelette rather than a pizza. We cut it in two, and... jam squirted out. Oh, and it didn't taste good. Not only was the dough stale, but the jam itself was sour. It all tasted bland in general. Somehow, we managed to finish it, and even praised the waiter sarcastically by saying that the pizzas were warm and mixing mushrooms with jam was really... interesting.

The restaurant is in Hereford, not far from the local Starbucks. Yeah, I changed some details. In fact, we asked about this meal, and indeed the waiter explained it to us what it was, but I guess we didn't get it right. He was also a bit surprised when we asked for two plates :)

What an interesting story! Where did this take place? I'm trying to imagine what kind of 'cuisine' this could actually be. Or is it made up? Either way, I love the story. It's exactly the kind of thing I make with my students in class :)
