Today my cousin asked me if I could come over to have diner with her family. I absolutely wanted to go but there are lots of work waiting for me so I refused to save about 4 hours. I did spend time affectively afterward. It is a busy day and am still awake at 11 p.m. to finish all the tasks.

Today my cousin asked me to come over for diner with her family. I really wanted to go but I still had a lot of work to do so I couldn't even afford 4 hours of my time but at least I managed to be productive for the whole evening. It is a busy day and am still awake/up at 11 p.m. to finish all my tasks.

I do not understand your second sentence. Why do you mention "4 hours"? Did you go to the dinner or not?
I do not understand your third sentence. What does "afterward" refer to? After what? Also, the word "affectively" does not mean what you think it means.

Hi Molly, good job on your writing!
Work is uncountable so we need to say there is a lot of work
Affectively I think it's a typo, I think you mean effectively:)
Afterwards - it's always plural.
Overall good use of language! Sounds like you were really tired afterwards?
