Tone is what a voice or sound is like. (It answers the question, "What are it's qualities?") For example, "He speaks with a deep tone.".
A tune is like music. It is a group of sounds we like to listen to. A popular game in the US, in the past, was called "Name That Tune". In it you guess which song is being played. You could also say, "I really like that tune."
I hope that helps!

Hi Erica, so "tone" and "tune" are tricky because they are so similar as they are both related to sound. The simplest way to explain it is that in music tune relates to a melody while tone has to do with a specific pitch. So, you could fine specific "tones" in a general "tune". "Tune and "tone" are also verbs with tune meaning to modify instruments to a specific pitch/ radio to specific frequency. As far as I'm aware "tone" the verb isn't really used in music and as more to do with a working out muscles to firm them.
