Plus, I feel really happy when they compliment on my achievements even it's just a little thing as a cake that I tried cooking.

They can give me their ideas about my issues, but always let me decide. Plus, I feel really happy when they compliment my achievements, even it's just a little thing, such as a cake that I tried baking/making.

I attribute the differences to trends gap. My parents had different trends during their times. And I am sure my son probably thinks that I am old fashioned. Hahaha.
