Sa-wat-dee (Sawadi) means Hello.
But if you want to say it more polite, we will say " Kha(Girls) or Khrup(boys) after the sentence.
For example : Sa-wat-dee-kha or Sa-wat-dee-khrup(Boys)

สวัสดี sawat dii is the base phrase but you generally need to add a particle at the end of the sentence to indicate your attitude and relationship (politeness/respect). Sometimes the polite article is dropped between friends and family.
It is considered good manners to add the polite particle to the end of each sentence, with ครับ krap (high tone) for male speakers and ค่ะ ka (falling tone) for female speakers.
I would say สวัสดีครับ
and you would say สวัสดีคค่ะ
Thais will often drop the 'r' sound in constant clusters hence krap/krup becomes kup.
