Thank God, you are pretty What does "Thank God, you are pretty" mean. I heard it several times in a movie. When a guy asks money from a his friend pointing out a stupid reason to why his friend should pay him, his friend says this.

It means you're a good guy, so I'll give you a money. And you're lucky (Thank God), that you're good guy (pretty). But sometimes it might be sarcasm.

I take it to mean this (and I could be wrong): "It is fortunate that you are good-looking, because you are neither talented, smart or rich." In other words, your good looks are the only advantage you have in life.
