1. 'Also' and 'too' are adverbs that mean the same but should be used in different ways.
2. 'Also' should be used before the verb. 'Too', on the other hand, should be placed at the end of a clause.

The question should be.... "What IS the difference between:" and "When CAN I use these words?"

generally, they can be used interchangeably.
little boy: I like bananas.
his friend: I like bananas, too!/I also like bananas.
In this kind of situation, when you're showing that you and the listener have similar ideas/situations,etc. they can both be used.
"too" has other meanings
i.e. "The apples we bought yesterday were too sour" -this is excessive[they were so sour we couldn't eat them]
It can also be used affirmatively to contradict a negative statement.
You're not going!
i am too!
Also can mean "in addition/besides that" and works like a conjunction in the place of 'and'
She is beautiful, also smart.

There is no difference as such in the meaning, however we tend to put "too" at the end of a sentence. "me too!" "Oh, I have that book too.", "I too have that book" would not be incorrect but it is very old fashioned. Also is used more before the verb. "I also have that book" .

Well, i learned than the word 'too' we use in the end of a sentence, and 'also' in the middle, but the meaning is the same.
