There's "hell" the noun, which is the place or experience in the afterlife reserved for evil people.
And there are many other uses, as interjections and other parts of speech I'm too lazy to look up.
What the hell are you doing? = What are you doing?, with an implication that you shouldn't be doing that.
He was a hell of a guy. = He was a great guy.
That was a hell of a ride = That was an awful ride, or, That was an intensely exciting ride.
She is hell on wheels = She is wild and uncontrollable.
Hell, I don't know. = I don't know, but emphatically.
Having food poisoning is hell = Having food poisoning is awful.
He was hell-bent on getting the car = He took extreme measures to get the car.
He left the restaurant like a bat out of hell = He left rapidly, and without much caution.
The world is going to hell in a handbasket = The world is seriously deteriorating.
I'm going to London come hell or high water = I'm going to London regardless of the difficulties.
Hell if I know = I really don't know, and I'd be surprised if I did.
It was the date from hell = Everything that could go wrong on the date went wrong.
You won't get your money until hell freezes over = You won't get your money.
